The Marketing Intern will play an integral role for the Marketing, Admissions and Career Services at Midwestern Career College. The successful applicant(s) will assist in:
• Engagement and outreach on social media and other digital channels, including Facebook, YouTube and live chat
• Organization of monthly events for prospective students and alumni
• Development of content and video to support MCC’s healthcare education training programs and our ESL program aimed at international students

The goals of these activities will be to build brand awareness, generate leads and cultivate brand ambassadors.
Reporting to the Senior Director of Marketing, the successful candidate may work with MCC staff across all departments (Marketing, Admissions, Financial Aid, International, Externship, Registrar and Career Services) so their needs are reflected on social media and other digital channels.

This position is located at MCC’s downtown Chicago campus at 100 South Wacker Drive.

Social Media (15%)
• Maintain the voice and personality of MCC’s Facebook and other social media accounts
• Execute content calendar.
• Help develop engaging and shareable content that energizes fans and followers and increases MCC’s reach.
• Expand and deepen relationships with fans, followers and prospective students.
• Answer people’s comments on posts and direct messages to the MCC Facebook account.
• Responsible for converting Facebook fans into leads for the Admissions team.
• Manage new social media accounts, as needed.

Content Marketing and Organic Search (20%)
• Assist in development of content for blogs and social media that promotes and improves organic search.
• Work with marketing team to identify high value keywords for promotion in organic search.
• Implement content strategy that will improve organic search results for relevant keywords across all academic program areas.
• Work to improve backlinks into MCC website.

Event Planning (15% + seasonal)
• Assist in executing successful events that build brand awareness and generate leads for our healthcare education programs, connect alumni to job and certification opportunities and convert alumni into brand ambassadors for MCC.
• Assist in MCC’s biannual graduation ceremonies. Responsible for all aspects of the ceremony, including communication with soon-to-be graduates; ordering caps and gowns and completing fittings; liaison with the ceremony venue, guest speakers, staff and faculty who will attend; and successful production of the ceremony itself.

Video (15%)
• For Facebook Live and YouTube, assist in developing videos with MCC faculty, program directors, students and alumni.
• Help brainstorm ideas, develop scripts, arrange interviews and produce video.
• Assist in managing video presence on Facebook, YouTube and the MCC website.

Live Chat (15%)
• Answer incoming queries on the live chat feature of the MCC website
• Respond to prospective students with prepared scripts and oversight from the Marketing and Admissions team.
• Convert live chat queries to leads for the Admissions team.

Web Site (10%)
• Work with Career Services and Externship Department to develop web content for students and alumni regarding externship, job and certification opportunities.
• Post video and events to website

The successful candidate should have the following:
• Near completion of bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications or related field.
• Experience in social media marketing, digital marketing and/or video production desired, but not required.
• Foreign language experience desired, but not required.
• Higher education experience desired, but not required.
